Description

Duk Girman Gona is a story about Abbas Mas’ud, a young man from Funtua, Katsina State, who faces challenges early in life after losing his father in an accident at age six. Raised by his uncle, Abbas grows up to be a hardworking and intelligent person. He excels in his studies at Bayero University Kano, earning a 5.00 GPA in his first semester, which makes him popular among students and lecturers. His good character, honesty, and discipline make him stand out, attracting attention from many, including young women, though he focuses on his education.

After graduating, Abbas gets a job at Alhaji Liti Brothers’ company in Kano, a well-known business owned by a generous man who supports the less privileged. Abbas’s hard work, punctuality, and respect for others lead to his promotion to manager, earning him a high salary, a car, and a house. His success brings joy to his family, especially his uncle and cousin Safiya, who secretly loves him. Safiya’s mother discovers her feelings and supports the idea of Abbas as a potential husband due to his admirable qualities.

The story also explores family dynamics, as Abbas’s uncle encourages him to marry, believing he’s ready to settle down at 35. Plans for a wedding are discussed, and Abbas agrees to follow his uncle’s guidance. However, the story takes an emotional turn when Abbas, his uncle, and others plan a trip to Katsina, leaving behind Zainab, a young relative preparing for her WAEC exams. Zainab feels uneasy about their departure, sensing something might go wrong. As they leave, she breaks down in tears, filled with worry and sadness.

*Duk Girman Gona* is a heartfelt tale of success, family, love, and the emotional challenges that come with life’s uncertainties, set against the backdrop of Northern Nigerian culture.
